Film Noir - April 2003 - Approx. 8 Minutes - Directed by Tyler Sonnichsen & Adam Sanders

STARRING
Jake Goldman as Flintlock Steele, Nicole Sullivan as Gladys, and Jason Fox as Frank Kelly

Detective Flintlock Steele, a classic film noir detective who shares an odd antagonism with his voiceover narrative, spends a quiet night in his office, contemplating how boring his life is. Suddenly, a beautiful dame by the name of Gladys walks in, asking him for help on a case involving her ex-husband. While she tries to explain what's wrong, Steele can't help but ignore her, as his narrative drawls on about how cool he is. He remembers meeting a mysterious figure in a local diner the night before. Gladys snaps him out of his daydream and gets up to leave in anger. On her way out, she bumps into her ex-husband, Detective Frank Kelly, who she thought was dead. He reveals that Gladys was the one who tried to have him killed, and his voiceover gets into an argument with Steele's. Soon enough, the two get into a classic-style brawl right there in the office, and Gladys leaves in confusion. After being knocked out by Kelly, Steele wakes up in a pool of his own blood, happy that his life is actually pretty exciting.

"The Best in Town" was filmed as Tyler's final project for TRF 255 for Professor James Biddle. It was screened to about 100 people on May 2, 2003 to rave reviews.
