Origin Myths, Where We Came From, and the Like

A large portion of the crew should appear here.

To really understand TDC Productions, you have to keep an open mind about its history, the people behind it, and everything that it represents. There were very few places that it could have originated other than in the hills of Western Massachusetts, in a sleepy town called Great Barrington (except in the summer, when it's packed with goddamn tourists from New York).

The TDC humor and trademark had been brewing for a few years when, in 1994, two local 9-year-old kids named Alex Kain and Ned Ivory recorded a fake radio broadcast in the confines of Alex's bedroom on one of those Talkboy recorders that enjoyed about 14 minutes of fame. Alex soon played the recording back for his cousin, Tyler, on a visit to his family in Madison, CT. Tyler was inspired, and he and Alex began to record shows of their own whenever they got together. (A couple of these actually still exist. The existence of the first show is unknown).

Within less than a year, a lot of things began to happen. Alex and Tyler began to produce videos, originally of fake newscasts and then elaborate interviews that didn't make a whole lot of sense but gave them and their sisters something to do. Alex soon integrated Ned and an increasing collective of friends into the series back home, and TDC Productions began its ascent.

By 1997, Alex, Ned, Ryan Arnold, Ted Hornick, Jake Morrill, and a number of others began getting together regularly in and around Western Massachusetts and started what would be a series of short, ridiculous films that made the most possible out of a shoestring (and more often no-string) budget. Around that time, Tyler and Alex put together a couple episodes of a sketch comedy show, starting TDC's TV series.

Before long, the TDC Crew in various formations was gathering an insane reputation in their area, and they joined forces with another crew, headed up by Taya Win, Steve Courage, Ian Stewart, and a few esteemed associates. The Bohemon, as they called themselves, had been forging a n underground of their own, and by the turn of the century, they had combined their crew and whatever resources they could scrounge. Meanwhile, down in CT, Tyler, unable to participate in most of these masterpieces, took enough interest to put the crew's first official website online.

By 2001, things were seriously changing. Tyler graduated and went off to college, and back in GB things started to appear in TDC films that hadn't been there before. Things like plot structure! Legitimate acting! Special effects! Complicated lighting! In other words, TDC was moving into the realm of respectability as an indie production company, despite the fact that they still had no real budget. Brett Parson and Alex were shooting and editing various artsy, angular, and impressive pieces like Heinz 57, Hotel Daniels, and Dead End (highlighted by their first gratuitous use of fake blood).

However, most of the TDC members and their friends graduated from high school in 2003, and many went off in their own directions. Since then, TDC Productions has been a company name controlled by Tyler Sonnichsen simply for the trademark of his own productions. While the groups various members have been working on their respective degrees, getting various bands off the ground, and basically just very much doing their thing, TDC remains vital in everyone's hearts and neuroses. In the past couple of summer, a number of TDC Productions have popped up, including the long-awaited Episode 3 of The Drawer Connection for TV, and various items of MPTV programming in CT, like the critically lauded "The Great American Trashure Hunt". More interesting stuff and gratuitous links coming soon.
