New Episode Posted! Episode 9
[tws]

It's always bizarre, but a welcome bizarre, when one borderline-focused conversation takes a detour and it turns into the funniest part of the show. In this case, it was when my good friend Jake Goldman, currently embroiled with the alt-country group Otsego up in NY, was on the phone and mentioned he spent most of the late 90's listening to terrible rap music. Immediately, Reggie and Atif jumped into the conversation and we started asking some serious questions about how just how badly No Limit and Cash Money royally f*cked all of the good will that rap had earned back after the mid-90's media-bred killing spree. Even before that happened, though, we'd had some great discussions about the politics of comedy in the US today, the passing of Amy Winehouse, and more.

As a brief note, I had to rerecord some of the show because the recording channel wasn't working properly. Most of it came out, though, and I wanted to present the best audio and podcast possible for your enjoyment. Or something like that.

As an even briefer note, come check out Reggie's 6th "Don't Block the Box" show at the Wonderland Ballroom (11th/Kenyon NW) in DC tomorrow night. And next weekend, come to my farewell show at the Electric Maid (by Metro Takoma) on Saturday night 8/6 at 9pm. That's all.

New Episode Posted: Matt f/ Smash! on board
[tws]

If you live in DC, unless you suck, you've met or seen my friend Matt Moffatt in or around Adams-Morgan. He's the skater guy who runs Smash! Records and has played in beloved and (beloveable) hardcore bands Crispus Attucks and 86 Mentality. If you've never been to Smash!, stop in and he'll show you a good time. Just don't ask him for drugs (that's happened before) or ask him for good satanic music to prepare yourself for the upcoming apocalypse (that also happened).

Anyway, have a listen and enjoy this episode for what it is: two dudes babbling about hardcore music, record collecting, and making fun of people who aren't us.

Season 6 / Episode 8: July 19, 2011

Soooo.... This is Happening
[tws]

No Big Takeover Tonight. Personal (but fun) matters, and I just needed a week off. We'll be back in full force next week.

Anyway, I've got slightly more exciting news to announce...

Yes, I'm officially selling out. And I want you to be there to partake in the process. There's too much to write about the background to this flyer, so I'll just leave it at this for now. Let me know know if you have any questions about the show. @tdc_radio or TYLER at TDCPRESENTS dot com. If you're in the DC area and want to help me out, here's the full-size uncensored version and the censored one for your houses of worship and day care centers.

God-damn, it's hot in the district today.

New Episode Posted: "This United Episode"
[tws]

I've decided to start writing the blurb about the episodes above the fold, simply because I can. Also, I have no tact. Anyway, this episode is a very special one for me (and it will be for you, too, once you click on that linkeroo below), because Tom was one of the first people and local musicians I met upon moving to DC in 2005, and he continues to be a good friend and music mindmeld, too (despite his avowed love of the Grateful Dead and country artists even his parents make fun of him for).

Anyway, I was finally able to reunite with the pedal steel/guitar master to talk about his varied musical career and life on the road with the critically acclaimed and cult-beloved These United States.  It's been about 5 years since he came on the show, and you'll all be relieved to hear how little either of us has grown. Enjoy...
