I know I'm pretty late in posting this, but I'm falling behind in just about everything, so why not this, too?
Anyway, tune in tonight at 9pm ET! I'll be on with show luminaries like Anupama and Evan, while our good friend (and my radio
mistress on WEBR) Mariya Alexander is planning to join the fun, too. It's gonna be good. I CAN FEEL IT! CAN Y'ALL FEEL ITTT!?
Oh, and join the Facebook group while you're at it. We have a ton of great guests coming up this summer, and maybe a few tonight (once they're confirmed.
Dammit).
COMING SOON... Georgetown Cabaret 2010, Hexagon 2010: Dancing with the Czars, and more. I swear.
Big Takeover to Return this Summer! (Pop Punk Tuesday VI)
[tws]
Another Tuesday, another band slated to set Sonar on fire in honor of Insubordination Fest. Here's Teenage
Bottlerocket, a Ramones-worshipping band we can all agree on. Video by Ben Levin. Very funny.
TBR's drummer, Brandon Carlisle, called into The Big Takeover last year, and you can listen to the hilarious results here, at about 10 minutes in. (Spoiler: he didn't seem sober).
I wish I had more time to promote this, but given the fact that June is becoming
progressively more chaotic around here, I'm going to tell you straight. THE BIG TAKEOVER is back, and Episode 1 of
Season 4 is premiering (hopefully) at 9pm ET next Tuesday. Keeping our fingers crossed that our server issues don't
come back, because WGTB is one hell of a station for letting us besmirch it in the way we do.
One of the highlights of the Harvest of Hope Festival this year was the Michigan (I think) troubadour Paul Baribeau. He is one of the best songwriters I can think of today, and he is DIY as hell (almost too much for his own good). Here he
is playing "10 Things" at a house show in Baltimore. You need to hear this.
Because I still owe you some high-octane pop-punk, I thought I would
stick with the glorious beards and lay some D4 on you. Paddy Costello never fails to impress.
I'm pretty sure that's Jesse from Weston you see floating on the crowd.
Anyway, GTown Cabaret is coming very soon, and other things are exciting. There's
a showcase at 11th St. Lounge next Thursday, the 10th that you should check out if you're in the Arlington area. It's got the quintissentially-bearded
Jake Young hosting it, and a bunch of funny-ass people.
