One of the coolest moments in my recent memory, Kimya Dawson, upon seeing how packed the in-store at Crooked Beat was, got up on a stoop and treated a massive crowd to a few songs. Her fame has gotten too big with the Juno soundtrack to fit into smaller venues like this for the time being, but that doesn't stop her from genuinely caring about all the kids who come out to hear her. It reminds me why I love artists like her. It worked out that we were situated directly in front of her stoop.

Come to The Awesome Room this Thursday, January 31st at 9PM, a great comedy show with a guaranteed awesome quota-exceeding level of Awesome. Jake Young is running this surely-to-be classic comedy night at McGinty's Irish Pub in Silver Spring, MD. It's metro-accessible, and many funny people will be there, including Larry Poon, Hampton the Yount, Seaton Smythe, Leslie Cooley, Jordan Owens, Evan Valentine, and yours truly in some capacity. It's a very, very reasonable $4 to get in, and you don't want to miss this!
