That subject line doesn't really pertain to any recent happenings in my life (things have been fine lately, nothing relevant
or reverent to complain about, though I'm sure I'll find something soon), I just thought that any post following the official
TDC interview with the man who played drums on "Funkytown" would be a serious letdown. So, for that very reason, I'm not even
going to try and make this one anything special. I'm just throwing in the towel and writing these words to let you all know
that I haven't fallen off the planet. A couple friends and I did venture down to Richmond tonight to do a show, which was
a great time.
I do have one silly anecdote to mention about this altogether charming southern town (with a prodigiously high murder rate):
While perusing the quiet streets near the club before the show (it was, after all about 7:45 pm on a sunday evening), my friends
Chris, Jake, and I encountered a few random characters who were somewhere within our respective ages. That is, to say, mid-to-late
20's. One of these characters happened to be sitting on his stoop as we walked by, remarking, "Hey, is it National White
Boy day?"
None of us knew how to react. Yes, all three of us were white, and dressed accordingly, I suppose. I
was holding an
umbrella, but the rain was picking up and I had it. See, the ironic thing was, this guy was white, too. His arms and legs
were covered with tattoos as well.

I'm sure if I'd gotten any closer to him, I would have found an
Avail tattoo mixed in somewhere
(See Exhibit A,
right). Since none of us could really figure out how to react to this grown-up hardcore kid's chide, I just spat out,
"
Every day is White Boy Day, my friend" as we passed out of his line of vision. Even as I was saying my retort, I knew
that it didn't make any sense, but it made this guy laugh, and not knife us.
Pearls of wisdom, cranked from the shallow oyster of my brain. Tune back in later this week for more ranting from me or (hopefully)
another member of the TDC Crew. For those mix CD fans out there, here's a pretty decent one I threw together in about five
minutes for the trip downstate.
